Suzanne Redstone

Suzanne Redstone 'draws with light'. She lives and works at Middle Rocombe Farm (the location of the Art Farm Project), building dramatic sculptures that interact with the available light with startling results. The play of light on steel and stone makes the light appear fluid, dynamic, almost three-dimensional.

'My practice is concerned with interrupting the available light that surrounds us, creating environments that attract, capture and release light to produce a changing visual experience. Their ephemeral quality is stimulating and exciting, yet has the capacity to inspire calmness and healing.'

Suzanne's disciplined study of light and shadow sensitizes the viewer to the idea that what we see is constantly evolving. 'I am interested in how we experience and see light, as opposed to the specifics of what we see.'

At the Art Farm Project 2006, Suzanne's working studio at the Farm will be on view, as well as recent videos that integrate the elements of time and sound into her study of light.
